Environmental Responsibility - From our letters to our administration building

We are aware of our responsibilities when it comes to preserving depleted resources. Thanks to structural and organisational enhancements to our production, warehousing and distribution operations, we have been able to make steady reductions in our consumption of water and energy. Our new administration building meets Switzerland's stringent minimum energy Minergie standards. Its rooms are heated and cooled using groundwater. Moreover, our production facility was linked up to the natural gas supply in 2008, which has lowered our use of energy and cut our CO₂ emissions by a considerable margin.

But we're not stopping there: we have voluntarily reached an agreement on objectives with the Swiss Federation to further boost energy efficiency. And because environmental responsibility often starts with the small things in life, our participation in the Swiss postal service's pro clima initiative means our consignments within Switzerland and abroad are climate neutral.

We are also committed to responsibility in our use of potential recyclables. Rivella is a member of the Swiss recycling organisations for PET and glass. PET is an environmentally benign material in that it can be reused any number of times. As a founding member of Switzerland's PET recycling initiative, we are committed to increasing the amount of the material being recycled. Every bottle counts: recycling results in energy usage dropping by more than half. Rivella bottles currently contain 30% recycled PET, a figure we want to see rise to 50%!
